Appointing a member of your leadership whether that be a Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher or Assistant Headteacher is probably one of the most important tasks that a Governing Body undertakes. There is considerable evidence indicating that the quality of a School’s leadership particularly the Headteacher, is the single most significant factor in its success.
We understand the importance of this appointment and provide support to the Governors and Selection Panel throughout the recruitment lifecycle by working in partnership to achieve a thorough and planned process that in turn will ensure the best possible candidate is appointed.
We attend the Initial Planning Meeting of the Selection Panel to provide support and advice on the recruitment process. We will assist with establishing a recruitment timeline and provide example wording of adverts and welcome letters from the chair. We will calculate the school group size and offer advice on pay ranges applicable to the school ensuring best practice and compliance with the School Teachers’ Pay & Conditions Document and the School’s Model Pay Policy.
Throughout the recruitment cycle the Chair of Governors has a named HR contact allocated to them from the Schools Support Team to provide advice and support to ensure best practice and compliance with safer recruitment is maintained throughout.
