New Governor: Full Day

Outline

An introduction to Governance for new governors at schools and academies in the Wakefield District. It is strongly recommended that all new governors attend this training with six months of their appointment. The training is intended to complement any induction offered by the Governing Body and/or school/academy/trust

Description

The event will:
  • Introduce new Governors to their roles and responsibilities and explore what they can contribute to the Governance Board. It will provide an introduction to education system, school management and procedures at meetings.

By the end of this event participants will have:
  • Developed a clear understanding of the strategic role and responsibilities of Governors;
  • Developed an understanding of school systems and processes;
  • Explored the influences on the Governing Board and got to know who is who at meetings;
  • Understood how to conduct a successful visit into school;
  • Networked and communicated with other governors and School Governors staff.
